The person who posts a notice determines the method that will be
used
in replying.
The options are:
email, displayed exactly as it is;
disguised email, the address is changed so it
must go through postanotice before it is relayed to the original
address. This does not prevent the recipient (the one who posted
the notice) from seeing the senders email address--it only
prevents the general public from viewing the address of the
notice poster;
web site address, all notices can contain a link
to a web site.
postal address, contact information may also be
included in the notice text.
Email security and privacy
It is not necessary to include personal contact
information in notices, but if contact from the public is
deemed useful, the options
are: email, postal address, and phone, plus information contained in the body of the notice.
On the posting page, you can select one of two
ways to display an email address: the entire
address is shown, or the first part is hidden showing only the domain
(the
part after the @ symbol). And of course, you can elect not to
display an email address.
If you elect to hide the first
part of your email address--visitors reading your notice
cannot obtain your address. However, if you respond, the person receiving your
email
response will obtain your email address. Read more in
Security & Privacy.
